Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Orchestre Métropolitain appear among the 2008 Juno Award Nominees for La Mer recorded by ATMA Classique, in the category CLASSICAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR: LARGE ENSEMBLE OR SOLOIST(S) WITH LARGE ENSEMBLE ACCOMPANIMENT.

Maestro Nézet-Séguin has been at the helm of the Orchestra Métropolitain du Grand Montréal since March 2000, in addition to leading an active conducting career on the international stage. In 2006, Nézet-Séguin was named artistic director of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. He will take over at the start of the 2008-2009 season. In May 2008, he will conduct L’Opera de Montréal’s production of Puccini’s Madame Butterfly.

Founded in 1981 by graduates of faculties and conservatories of music in Quebec, the Orchestre Métropolitain has succeeded in its goal of promoting classical music and Canadian talent to the public at large. With its unique artistic direction and pedagogical approach, the Orchestre is a veritable institution at the heart of Montréal cultural life.
