A few days ago, Yannick Nézet-Séguin has received his decoration by His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada. Named Companion of the Order of Canada in June 2012, Yannick could not attend the official Investiture Ceremony until this day. This ceremony was held at Rideau Hall (Ottawa); 49 Canadian people, including 16 Quebeckers, were honoured. The Order of Canada “pays tribute to Canadians who exemplify the highest qualities of citizenship and whose contributions enrich the life of their contemporaries.” The highest grade of the Order of Canada is the one of Companion which “recognizes national pre-eminence or international service or achievement.”

The editor of the French dictionary Le Petit Robert has just announced that the Conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin will be welcomed in the 2015 edition of the proper nouns dictionary. This honour to Yannick Nézet-Séguin is of great pride, not only for his family and relatives, but also for Montreal, Quebec province, Canada, the French-speaking Nations, his own Orchestras in Philadelphia (Philadelphia Orchestra), Rotterdam (Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest), Montreal (Orchestre Métropolitain) and London (London Philharmonic Orchestra), and the whole Music World. Congratulations to Yannick!

The Curtis Institute of Music confers the degree of Doctor of Music (Honoris Causa) to Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
